Saturday Crafternoon: A Few Favorite Things

“…Brown paper packages tied up with strings; these are a few of my favorite things.”

Greetings everyone! Today is Saturday, which means that we are going to kick this day off with another DIY project. Now, this may be shocking news to some of you and the best news all year to others, but there is only ONE more week until Christmas!  Thus, today I would like to share with you some fantastic gift tag ideas. They are so simple, fun, and (like always) super simple!

Before we get started, though, especially on the topic of gifts, please allow me a few moments of your time to give you something. My intention in writing about these fun projects is never to give you yet another thing to add to your collection of pins on Pinterest. My intention is also to never make you “wish” that you could be artistic or creative. No, no. Those things could not be further from the truth. I hope that by sharing these ideas with you that you realize that you ARE an artist. You ARE creative. You are YOU! Your art and creativity may look different than those around you and that is beautiful. Maybe one of these projects does not fit your unique style – That is AWESOME! Take it and make it your own. Transform it into something you see as beautiful because your vision is beautiful. Never allow others’ interpretation of beauty determine your creative and artistic vision. So here on This Darling Adventure, I want to give you permission and freedom to be you to the fullest, because you are B-E-A-U-TIFUL!

Now, let’s get this gift tag party started!

Gift Tag #1: Stars

If you tried out the clothespin Christmas ornaments we made a couple weeks ago, here is one for you! Wondering what to do with the metal spring pieces that normally would hold the clothespins together?

Check out this tutorial by Organize & Decorate Everything for turning these extra springs into stars!

Gift Tag #2: Watercolored Trees

So you want to give painting a go… Try out these watercolored Christmas tree gift tags!*

What You Will Need:

trees-1

  • Watercolor paper
  • Watercolor paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Scissors
  • Glitter Paint or Metalic Marker

The Process:

  1. Paint some squiggly lines in the shape of a Christmas tree on your watercolor paper. Allow paint to dry completely (10 mins).

2. Cut around each tree to make a tag as large or small as you need for the present. Then, using the glitter paint or a metallic sharpie, paint/draw “ornaments” and a “star” on the tree.

3. Poke a hole in one of the corners of the tag using your scissors and you are good to go!

Gift Tag #3: Cut-Out Trees

Want to paint, but can’t get the squiggle down from the watercolored trees? No worries. Try these cut-out trees instead!

    1. Hey! Thanks! And thanks for reading 🙂 Clothespins are so simple, yet there is more to them than what meets the eye! That may be a part of what makes engineering so creative as well. There is more to most things in our world than what we can see on first glance!
