Welcome friends to another Meaningful Monday on This Darling Adventure! It is so good for you to be here today. Believe it or not, it is the start of the last full week in January. This year is certainly whizzing on by!
Before we get carried away with the days passing so quickly, though, I thought we could take a moment – a moment in the midst of our crazy schedules – to stop and think. Why are you here? No, don’t worry. I am not asking the age old question of “what is your purpose in life?” Nor am I asking why you are here on this planet. Those are excellent questions for another time and place. Today, I am asking you why you are here on This Darling Adventure.
Perhaps you are someone who likes adventure. Perhaps you love to travel and learn about new places. Perhaps you just like the photos. Or maybe its the crafternoons. Or maybe you are a fellow blogger who really just wanted me to follow you (it’s all good, no worries at all). Whatever your motivation may be for joining in this daily conversation, I hope you know today that you belong.
You see, all too often we go through life trying to figure out where we belong. We try out various groups of friends, different places of work, numerous places of worship, etc. (the list goes on and on). We constantly attempt to discover where we “fit in” or what groups we can call our own. Most of us have this deep desire to find others whom we may call our people. Then, when we find those people, we celebrate at the joyous reunion. Our thirst for community is quenched and even the hard things in life do not seem as hard anymore.
Now, there is nothing wrong with this at all. In fact, as human beings we need other people. Community is absolutely essential. But to all those who feel like they do not belong, who have not found their people, and who do not know where on earth they really fit in, this message is for you: Friends, you belong.
How can I say that with such confidence? After all, I may not know you, what you like or don’t like, who you voted for, how you look, what you’ve done, who your family is, or what your hopes and dreams are. That is all likely true. But, rest assured, the thing that I do know is that in my eyes, if you are a human being with breath in your lungs and blood pumping through your veins, you are my brother or sister and that means you belong.
So, while you may be still searching for what it is you are looking for, please do not get discouraged. If school or work or even home has you down in the dumps because you feel like you don’t really fit in, keep your heart strong. Know that whoever you are, wherever you may be, you belong here. The burden of not belonging can be lifted off of your shoulders and you can live with the confidence that you belong to a community of people living this darling adventure together. Welcome to belonging! (It feels good, doesn’t it?) 😉
Part of belonging in a community is communicating, so please feel at home to comment below! Thanks! Have a wonderful afternoon! 🙂

Hey Laura, where would you recommend to a newbie traveller? So far I’ve only been to Malaysia and Bintan Island 🙂 You have a lovely blog, by the way! I especially love your tagline 😀

Hey! Wow, you are off to a great start already! Hmm… well, the entire world is amazing but I would recommend traveling through Europe. It is pretty easy to do as you can cover a lot of “ground” in only a little bit of time and it won’t cost you a lot to do so. It is easy to take trains or buses from place to place, and the transit systems are pretty easy to navigate, which is a bonus. And Europe is just awesome! I would also recommend Iceland. I have not been there myself but from what I’ve heard and seen it seems like a beautiful place to go to and fairly easy to navigate for newbie travelers as well! Hope this helps 🙂

It also depends on your purpose for traveling though 🙂 not sure if you like to do things more outside or inside, or if you want to just hang out on a beach somewhere or hike up a mountain, etc. Those things will also play a large part in where to travel to as well!

Thank you, Laura! Oh yes, Europe is a dream 🙂 I’m more drawn towards Mother Nature and culture heritage sites. I’ll definitely take your advice into account. Have a wonderful Wednesday! 😀
