I cannot help but stare out the window of our apartment sometimes and think about what a wonderful world this is that we have the opportunity to live in. Yes, media headlines are filled with stories consuming our thoughts with the overwhelming tragedies of living in the twenty-first century. It is far too easy to forget about the beautiful, the awe-inspiring, and the moments that bring joy to our hearts. But these things are quintessential to living. Without them, without recognizing the many reasons we have to be grateful for another day to live, our lives appear to be meaningless, hopeless, and direction-less.
But it does not have to be this way.
This is part of my motivation for writing. The world is full of moments waiting to be lived out, stories to be told to new audiences, and beauty and creativity yet to be discovered. Oh the places we will go to discover such treasures and oh the places we have been already that have led us to believe that there is so much more out there than what we can imagine.
And the best part is… you don’t have to go far.
Although stuffing a backpack with your essentials and flying somewhere across the sea is something everyone should experience at least once in their life, sometimes the most beautiful moments can be discovered in your own backyard. So starting today, I challenge you to open your eyes, ears, and even nostrils and really live right where you are. Look for the beautiful, the awe-inspiring, and the moments that bring you joy today and then get ready for the wild, darling adventures that lie ahead for you in the days to come. Oh the places you’ll go, and oh the places you have been.
Beautiful thought!
