This Too Shall Pass

Hi friends! I hope all is well with you wherever you are today. It is SO good for you to be here. This place just would not be the same without you. Welcome, welcome!

I don’t know if you can resonate with this, but can I just say that I feel like it is time… Time for what you may ask? Well, brace yourselves. Friends, it is time to break out the Christmas music – Michael Bublé and Mannheim Steamroller to be exact. Needless to say, as I write this evening, I am curled up on the couch, drinking a warm cup of tea, listening to the entirely melodious and timeless jingles of the most wonderful time of the year.

As I sit here, though, thinking through this annual heated debate over when it is socially acceptable to start listening to Christmas music, I must also admit that there is in fact so much more on my heart and mind. Today has been full of questions. There are the big life questions and the little daily questions. There are the future-driven questions and the present-dwelling questions. It feels as though all of them have been rolled up into a ginormous ball and placed in my lap.

But in the midst of these weighty questions being tossed to and fro in my mind, I was reminded by a dear friend today that this too shall pass.

Let me say that again: this too shall pass.

Many times have I been here before and not once has it been in vain. There have been lessons I have learned through these moments about myself, others, and the world around me. These have shaped who I have become and where I am at today. There have been countless beautiful opportunities that have come as a product of the toughest times of my life. Why would this be any different? This too shall pass.

Friends, if you are feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders today, may this be a message of hope and encouragement: this too shall pass. Whatever you are up against, this too shall pass. If you feel insignificant in the shadow of the concerns you are faced with, this too shall pass. There is hope for the future and your efforts are not in vain. You were created with an incredible purpose that is uniquely yours and your life is absolutely beautiful.

This too shall pass.
